World Languages Across North Dakota

November 28, 2007

Teachers are you looking for a way to strengthen your students’ mastery of their foreign language? How about having your students practice their second language with other students across North Dakota? You’ll use interactive video to connect your class with a class from a different school in North Dakota, conversing with each other by sharing stories, poetry, or dramatic dialogue.

WLAND is open to K-12 students who have access to H.323 (IP) videoconference equipment. Participating classes will be matched with a class from another school in North Dakota. Each class will exchange reading activities. Classroom-to-classroom connections will take place in November 28, 2007. Each connection is scheduled for an hour with the presentation delivered in the target language.

  • 15 minutes for testing and introductions
  • 30 minutes for the reading activity (15 minutes per classroom)
  • 15 minutes for exchanging information about the school and communities

Be creative and have fun with your presentation! Ideas for presentations include: stories, skits, plays, dramatizations, or poetry – to name a few! For suggestions and ideas about preparing your class to participate, contact foreign language instructor Christie Anderson at christie.anderson@sendit.nodak.edu.
