Students run the microscope over the Internet using just a PC and mouse, after you install simple free software provided by the Microscopy Center. You can choose specific samples that fit your curriculum, or a variety of interesting ones are available for demonstration. Laboratory personnel Scott Payne or Jayma Moore will be happy to answer your questions or help you schedule your virtual microscopy session.

There is no cost to K-12 schools for the use of this tool. No videoconferencing equipment needed, just projector and Internet connected computer with available bandwidth to support quality video. Call or e-mail Scott or Jayma at the USDA Science Lab to discuss your goals as soon as you know that you may want to utilize the SEM; a precise date for the classroom session can be scheduled two weeks or more in advance.
