Read Around the Planet
Read Around the Planet is a celebration of NEA's Read Across America. Classrooms use interactive video to connect with other classrooms "around the planet" and read to each other. The activity is sponsored by TWICE and Polycom, in cooperation with NEA. TWICE provides the registration tool, matches classrooms with partners, and provides support documents.
Participating classrooms are responsible for their own video connection and developing their own reading activities for the event. EduTech is facilitating RAP for all participating North Dakota Schools. Please refer to the instructions below to prepare your class(es) for participation in RAP.
You and your students are invited to participate in 2010's Read Around the Planet event! To learn more about this videoconference-based activity and to view past events, please visit the RAP web site and explore the TWICE site for ideas on how to prepare for your presentation! Please disregard the information they have posted regarding both verification and registration. Because ND schools are all on our state network, EduTech is able to take care of both of these procedures for our schools.
Equipment Verification
For all participating schools in North Dakota, EduTech will facilitate the verification with TWICE.
Equipment verification helps prevent classes from being mismatched due to technical incompatibilities.
Verification does not eliminate the need for a test call to the partner school. When all participating schools from North Dakota have received information about their partners, EduTech will begin facilitating test calls for each school.
Teachers – Please Read!
It is extremely important that you read and refer to the RAP Teacher Instructions (PDF) for the complete details.
