Online Tools for the K-12 Classroom 2.0

This workshop is designed to share some of free instructional information that is available via the Internet for both teachers and students. There are many great sites and programs for online collaboration, presentation and photo editing tools along with lots of fun tools. In addition, you will be introduced to numerous resources for music, sound, clipart, pictures and movie trailers for classroom use.

Major Goal:

Participants will learn how to access and utilize online tools for classroom teachers and students.

Notes:

This workshop is scheduled through MREC.

Participants or their school districts are responsible for their own registration fees.

Participants are asked to bring their own laptop computers and a power cord.

Participants should plan to bring their own dinner and drink, as none will be provided.

The workshop will be held in Tech Lab 2 at the Hughes Education Center.

Participants will:

  • Explore free presentation and photo editing programs like Empressr, Animoto, Be Friendly, Cameriod, Sumo Paint and Tux Paint.
  • Investigate class room helpers and fun tools like Purpose Games, Stop Watch, Bubble Snap, Zoom It, My Stickies, Search Me and Wordle.
  • Identify Skype, Oovoo and Poll Everywhere as online collaboration tools.
  • Discuss integrating discovered resources into the curriculum.
