Electronic Portfolios in the Classroom

A portfolio is a sampling of a person's work expressing their abilities, attitudes, experiences, and achievements. Electronic Portfolios are a creative way to organize, summarize and share artifacts, ideas and information. This workshop will focus on ways to organize, assess and document student growth through the use of electronic portfolios. Various software applications will be explored.

Major Goal:

Participants will create a sample portfolio and learn how to assist students in creating their own electronic portfolios.

Notes:

This workshop is contracted with the RESP and may be canceled if the minimum number of participants are not registered within one week of the workshop.

Participants will:

  • list various software applications used in electronic portfolios.
  • identify electronic portfolio online resources.
  • recognize the value of electronic portfolios in assessing student growth.
  • create a sample electronic portfolio.
  • discuss integrating electronic portfolios into the curriculum.
