Google Earth in the Classroom

Imagine the possibilities of using Google Earth in the classroom! You can explore rich geography as you fly anywhere on earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings and galaxies in the sky. This workshop will focus on integrating Google Earth into your curriculum.

Major Goal:

Participants will explore and create Google Earth learning experiences for their own classrooms.

Notes:

This workshop is contracted with the RESP and may be canceled if the minimum number of participants are not registered within one week of the workshop.

Participants will:

  • recognize the Google Earth interface.
  • create placemarks with images, hyperlinks and video segment links.
  • create polygons, paths and image overlays.
  • explore the sun viewer, sky view, layers and other Google Earth resources.
  • discuss integrating Google Earth into the curriculum.
