Web Hosting Policy
EduTech provides use of the EduTech web hosting server to North Dakota K-12 schools and organizations. In order to provide the best service we have adopted the following policies regarding web hosting request and administration.
- Requests for web hosting space may only be submitted by Superintendents or Organization Leaders of North Dakota K-12 schools and educational organizations.
- Domain names requested by schools must be of the form www._____.k12.nd.us where the variable portion is comprised of the city or DPI recognized school name (example: www.jamestown.k12.nd.us or www.billingscounty.k12.nd.us)
- Each school or organization must appoint one of their staff members (the webmaster) as the local contact to coordinate communication with EduTech. This person will be responsible for monitoring web pages and content placed on the groups web space.
- Webmasters must have valid EduTech accounts and this account must be used to contact the EduTech Help Desk for technical support.
- All web space is for educational purposes only. No site may be used for commercial purposes by the webmaster nor may webspace be resold. Information describing sales related to the school’s fund-raising may be allowed. Final determination of whether a site is being used for commercial purposes is up to EduTech staff and may not be appealed.
- The school or organization requesting webspace agrees to abide by EduTech acceptable use policies (http://www.edutech.nodak.edu/support/policies/aup/)
- The school or organization accepts responsibility for the content on their web pages and the information they place on EduTech servers. They also agree to have a local acceptible use policy for Internet use, enforcing copyright law, and refer to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regarding student content.
If the above terms are not met, EduTech reserves the right to terminate hosting services. All webhosting accounts are the sole property of EduTech and are provided as a service. As such final determination of account status is up to EduTech and may not be appealed. If hosting is discontinued for any reason, access and rights to information and data on the server is forfeited. Failure to abide by this acceptible use policy may result in the loss of privileges as well as further disciplinary and/or legal action.
