MailWatch How-To
MailWatch will allow you to view messages that are currently stored in your quarantine. Most of these messages will be spam, but there is the possibility that a legitimate message may be in your quarantine. If you are expecting a message and haven’t received it, check here to see if this is the case. Messages that arrive with viruses will never be available for download via the quarantine. From MailWatch it is possible to view other information about messages sent to your account.
If you open MailWatch from within EduMail in the Options section, you won’t need to log in. However, if you open it from any other location, you will need to log in using your EduMail/SENDIT login and password.
When you first login, you will be presented with your quarantine.
Home
This screen displays the last 50 messages received in the past week. The Color Codes chart explains the type of message received: Virus/Unsafe, Spam (Quarantined), Spam (Blocked), Safe Sender, Banned Sender (Blocked) and Clean. To view any of these messages, simply click View next to the message. The next screen will display information about the e-mail, but not its content.
Quarantine
To view your quarantined e-mail, click on Quarantine from the menu bar. The messages can be sorted by clicking on the down arrow for descending order or the up arrow for ascending order under any of the columns you wish to sort. To view any of the messages that are quarantined, click on View next to that message. To view the contents of that message to decide whether you want to release that message to your inbox, scroll to the bottom. Click on the link under the section Quarantine and Contents. If you want to release this message to your inbox, there are two ways to do it:
- At the top of this screen is the link Release this message. After you click on this link, you will see a window confirming that the message was released to your inbox. Click Close Window to close the box.
- Click the back button to the previous page where you clicked on Contents and check the box under Release. Click Submit (a Close Window box will not be displayed).
Reports
To view reports about messages received in the past week, click on Reports on the menu bar. Report links are at the bottom:
- Message Listing lists all your messages (potentially spanning multiple pages) for the past week.
- Total Messages by Date provides a breakdown of how many messages, viruses and spam you have received.
