Configuring an existing account to use SSL in Eudora 7 for Windows
- From the Eudora menu, click Tools > Options.
- From the Category column, select Checking Mail.
- In the Secure Sockets when Receiving area, change the drop down menu to Required, Alternate Port.
- From the Category column, select Sending Mail.
- Under SMTP Relay Personality, check the box next to Use submission port (587).
- In the Secure Sockets when Receiving area, change the drop down menu to Required, STARTTLS.
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the Options window.
- Note: If you are unable to send mail, uncheck box next to Use submission port (587).
Setting up a new account in Eudora 7 for Windows
- From the Eudora menu, click Tools > Options.
- In the Options window, make sure the Getting Started category is selected.
- Enter your name and full e-mail address (e.g., john.doe@sendit.nodak.edu) in the appropriate sections.
- Enter the following information in the designated fields:
- Mail Server (Incoming): imap.sendit.nodak.edu
- User Name: Enter your login name (e.g., john.doe)
- SMTP Server (Outgoing): smtp.sendit.nodak.edu
- Make sure the Allow authentication box is checked.
- From the Category column, select Incoming Mail.
- Click the radio button IMAP in the Server configuration field.
- From the Category column, select Checking Mail.
- In the Secure Sockets when Receiving area, change the drop down menu to Required, Alternate Port.
- From the Category column, select Sending Mail.
- In the Secure Sockets when Receiving area, change the drop down menu to Required, STARTTLS.
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the Options window.
- Enter your password when prompted and click OK.

- From the Special menu, choose Settings…
- Select the Sending Mail category, and check the box next to Use submission port (587).
- Select the SSL category, and enter the following information:
- In the SSL for SMTP area, change the drop down menu to Required (TLS)
- In the SSL for IMAP area, change the drop down menu to Required (Alternate Port)
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the Settings window.

- From the Special menu, choose Settings…
- Select the Checking Mail category, and enter the following information:
- User Name: Enter your login name (i.e. john.doe)
- Mail Host: imap.sendit.nodak.edu
- Next to Mail Protocol, click the IMAP radio button
- Select the Sending Mail category, and enter the following information:
- Email Address: Enter your e-mail address (i.e. john.doe@sendit.nodak.edu)
- SMTP Server: smtp.sendit.nodak.edu
- Check the box next to Use submission port (587)
- Make sure the Allow authorization box is checked
- Select the SSL category, and enter the following information:
- In the SSL for SMTP area, change the drop down menu to Required (TLS)
- In the SSL for IMAP area, change the drop down menu to Required (Alternate Port)
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the Settings window.
- Choose Check Mail from the File menu and enter your password when prompted.
