E-mail

EduTech provides North Dakota member schools with e-mail accounts for students, teachers, and other school personnel at no cost.

All e-mail accounts are stored on EduTech mail servers and protected by anti-virus and anti-spam tools. Our anti-virus and anti-spam scanning tools are also available for use by schools who have their own e-mail servers. There is a flat-rate monthly fee for this service.

About the SENDIT Mail Service

In May 2002, SENDIT Technology Services (STS) and the Center for Innovation in Instruction (CII) merged to form EduTech. In order to ease the transition for our customers, we have chosen to keep the name of our e-mail service as SENDIT. Throughout our website and in all documentation, when you read the word "SENDIT", you may assume we are referring to the e-mail service offered by EduTech.

The SENDIT mail service provided by EduTech uses the same servers, software and configurations as it did under STS. SENDIT e-mail accounts are available to the students, staff and faculty in any North Dakota K-12 organization that wishes to become a member.

The SENDIT mail service uses the IMAP protocol to let you get to your messages easily from wherever you happen to be. Users who wish to send and receive e-mail from their personal computers may use any IMAP compliant e-mail client or our web-based EduMail program. Visit our Support section for help with configuring supported e-mail clients.

Information About IMAP

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a way of storing and manipulating e-mail on a server. One advantage of IMAP over other protocols, such as POP, is that it makes your e-mail easily accessible from multiple locations and computers.

An IMAP e-mail program can read, reply, forward, print and delete messages. It can also create folders and file messages into them as well as move messages from one mailbox to another. IMAP e-mail programs also move or copy selected messages from the server to your local machine and vice-versa.

This may sound like no big deal, but the marvelous thing is that all your mail is always kept on EduTech's mail servers. When you receive, move or delete messages and mailboxes on your local machine, the server synchronizes with your e-mail program. This way when you check your mail from some other location, your messages are already where you expect them to be.

The underlying theme of IMAP is that if you receive, move or delete a message while using one computer, then those changes will automatically be reflected in any other computers you use.

Getting a SENDIT Mail Account

Please visit the account enrollment page to begin the sign up process. You will also want to read EduTech's acceptable use policy before creating your account.

Your building facilitator will need to approve your account before you can begin using it. This process helps us to ensure that someone else isn't trying to create an EduTech account in your name.

If you need help with you current e-mail account, such as making changes to your profile, password, or mail forwarding, please visit the e-mail support page.
