EduWeb

EduWeb is our next-generation web publishing solution. Using EduWeb, students and teachers alike are able to put content onto your school's web site. Anyone in your school can contribute - no knowledge of HTML is necessary.

Key Differences

No Extra Software Required

Web sites are typically created with a program such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage, and then transferred to the location where they are hosted. With EduWeb, everything is done from your Web browser. You can manipulate your site and perform all editing functions within the browser using a simple, easy to understand interface. No knowledge of HTML is required.

Global Participation

With traditional Web hosting, the more people who have the ability to change the site, the more problems you experience. You spend more on Web design software, more accidents happen, pages are mistakenly deleted or overwritten, etc. As a result, this privilege is usually limited to a small number of individuals who just don't have time to update the Web site as frequently or as deeply as you would like.

With EduWeb, you decide which person can change which parts of the site. Anyone with an EduTech account, including students, can participate in the creation of your district's Web pages to whatever degree you allow them. Each teacher can have his or her own set of pages. Student managers can update athletics pages. The yearbook team can keep a photojournal of the school year. If something is happening in the school, it doesn't have to go through the tech staff to get on the Web site.

Ability to Review

While it might be nice to give everyone the ability to change the site, you probably want to have the ability to review pages before they are made public. EduWeb has workflow processes built in that ensure every page visible on the Internet has been approved. So a student manager can update the appropriate athletics pages, but those changes are not public until a coach or other person of authority has agreed with them. If necessary a page can be rejected and a note sent to the author explaining what needs to be different.

Schedule Pages for Publication

It is November 20th and you have some free time. You want to put the December lunch menu online, but do not want to lose the November version. No problem! Just update the page and schedule it to be available on December 1st.

Restoring Older Versions of a Page

EduWeb stores at least ten previous versions of each page. If it is November 20th and you accidentally replaced the lunch menu with the December version too early, you can bring the older version of the page back.

Consistent Site Look and Feel

Each EduWeb site chooses a theme and color scheme. The selected look and feel remains consistent through the entire site, giving it a clean, organized, professional look. All you need to worry about is the content!

Automatic Navigation Bar

As you create pages, they can be automatically added to the navigation elements displayed on your site. You no longer have to develop and maintain a navigation bar on your own.

Getting Started

The EduWeb service is available to all K-12 schools and K-12 education organizations in the state of North Dakota. Before the service is activated, you will need to schedule training for your staff with your EduTech regional technology specialist. The school's technology coordinator/webmaster will receive preparatory training via telephone on administrating the EduWeb site.

EduTech offers EduWeb at a subscription rate of $350/building/year with no charge for administration buildings. A building is defined as a DPI allocated plant. The district will be billed for each building within their district each year on July 1. New subscriptions are pro-rated based on the month they begin service. Refunds for cancellations are only valid for 30 days from your purchase date.

A single, telephone based, site administrator training for up to three technical staff is provided at no cost to the school. Teacher training is required to use EduWeb and is available at EduTech's regular training rate of $45/teacher for a four hour block of training. EduTech does not offer E-Rate discounts for this service.
