Videoconference with Senator Dorgan

The first of two videoconferences with North Dakota’s Senator Dorgan was held December 19, 2007.

Two schools participated in the event, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock and Hazen. Thirty-nine juniors and seniors from various high school social studies classes developed questions for the Senator to answer in the forty-five minute videoconference. The topics ranged from social security, cost of higher education, No Child Left Behind, immigration and the upcoming Presidential elections. The next videoconference with Senator Dorgan will be on January 22, 2008. The two schools that will be participating are Oakes and Zeeland.

Read Across North Dakota registration is open!

Get ready for an adventure across North Dakota – Read Across North Dakota!

Teachers are invited to participate in the third annual Read Across North Dakota (RAND). RAND is open to K-12 students who have access to H.323 (IP) videoconference equipment. This activity was designed to give students in elementary and secondary schools around the state the opportunity to read to each other, collaborate and contribute to each other’s learning in real time, using advanced multi-point video conferencing technology. Interactive video classroom-to-classroom connections will take place January 30–31, 2008. Each connection is scheduled for an hour.

RAND is sponsored by EduTech Education Technology Services, in cooperation with the Information Technology Department. EduTech provides the registration tool, matches classrooms with partners, and supplies support documents.
