K-12 Internet Filtering Override Account Disabled

During the summer, changes to STAGEnet have affected how Internet filtering works in K-12 schools. Filtering works correcly, but when one computer in a school uses the bypass profile, all computers in the school are affected.

EduTech and ITD are looking at a number of solutions, some of which may take several weeks or more to put into place. During this time, the bypass option has been removed from the filters.

To mitigate the problems this can cause, EduTech will be very responsive to your requests to unblock and re-block individual Web sites and categories. We suggest you ask your teachers to test Web sites they plan to use ahead of time and let you know what needs to be available.

We will block or unblock sites/categories submitted to the EduTech Help Desk as soon as possible. The official turn around time is less than two business hours, but in almost every case will be much less.

We will keep you up to date on our progress. Our goal is to not just resolve the problem, but to do so with minimal impact on you and your networks. If you have concerns about loss of the ability to bypass your normal filtering profile, do not hesitate to contact the EduTech Help Desk.
