REMINDER: INSTEP SPECIAL DISCOUNT OFFER

For each school that registers three teachers, on or before September 1, 2006, a fourth teacher may participate free of charge. That’s four for the price of three! Upon completion, one NDSU graduate credit is available to those interested.

Beginning September of 2006, the Instructional Technology Partners (INSTEP) program is available to all school districts. The program is designed to simulate other successful technology partner programs established in North Dakota, but on a larger scale.

INSTEP targets teachers who are hesitant to implement instructional technologies into their curriculum. Using technology resources currently available in the school, pressure is not put on administration to purchase new or upgrades to hardware and software applications. Three-five teachers work one-on-one with an EduTech partner. Each teacher designs, modifies and integrates a technology-based activity into some part of the curriculum. During this process, the teacher receives the materials and skills to become a technology partner to mentor other teachers.

In order for this program to be successful, the school administrator (principal) is involved in all phases by attending the sessions, observing the process, and being present when the lesson or activity is implemented in the classroom. The administrator also offers support, encourages teachers to complete the course requirements, and identifies ways to sustain the program.

The cost of $300 per teacher (no fee for administrators) is very minimal considering the amount of time that is devoted to assisting the classroom teacher through the process of developing and implementing technology activities into their curriculum.
